BOX SCORE 2 Myrtle Beach, SC – Hunter College softball went 1-1 on day three of the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach on Sunday, March 13. The Hawks fell to Albright College with a score of 6-1 before defeating Spalding University, 9-2 later in the day.
Albright RecapThe Hawks fell behind early as the Lions struck first in the second inning to lead 4-0. Hunter was able to hold the Lions to those four runs until the sixth inning when two Albright runners would score due to a Hawk error. With the score 6-0 Hunter managed to get on the board in the 7
th inning thanks to
Briana Monaco and
Christine Kline, but the Hawks would fall, 6-1.
Spalding RecapIn their last game of the Classic, the Hawks dominated early, immediately scoring off a walk in the first inning.
Victoria Slavik, Kline and Annalise Mcclellan each scored soon after off a Monaco double and
Taylor Crofts and
Emily Ruiz each recorded an RBI to give the Hawks a demanding 6-0 lead in the first.
The Golden Eagles scored in the third inning, but Hunter struck again in the fourth as Nicole Fillsetti,
Alana Vezza and Ruiz each tallied an RBI to help the Hawks take a 9-1 lead. Spalding would score another run in the fourth inning but Hunter got the win, 9-2.
Up NextThe Hawks will return to action on Thursday, March 17 for a doubleheader against Lehman College, beginning at 3 p.m.
