BOX SCORE 2 New York, NY - Hunter College softball defeated York College on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader, getting the wins with scores of 18-2 and 9-1 at Randall's Island.
The Hawks even out their record to 4-4 while improving to 4-0 in the CUNYAC.
Leanna Donahue led the team on the mound, limiting York to single-digit hits to get the Hunter win. The Hawks recorded 16 hits in the victory, led by
Samantha Molloy and Brittany Salvador's combined 10 RBI's, while six Hawks recorded at least two hits in the victory.
The Purple and Gold followed that up with another win later in the afternoon, defeating the Cardinals 9-1.
Hunter opened up the first inning with four runs for a 4-0 lead before a scoreless second inning. The Cardinals tallied a run in the third, but the Hawks responded with two more runs, including an RBI from
Amanda Fursa.
Heather Ostrowski,
Briana Monaco and
Diana Ferreira each recorded an RBI in the fourth, securing the Hunter win.
The Hawks return to action on Monday when they travel to Lehman College for a doubleheader.
