New York- Nicholas Coco has been named the head coach of the Hunter College wrestling program.
Coco comes to Hunter after having coached at Ram's Wrestling Club in East Meadow, NY. He coached high school wrestling since 2018 at W.T. Clarke, Edgemont High School, and Churchville-Chili, where he coached a NYS Champion and two qualifiers, 14+ All-Section athletes, six All-County selections and led his team to a League Championship, NYS All-Section Runner Up and the NYS Team Sportsmanship award, among other recognitions.
Coco graduated from SUNY Brockport with a B.S. in Kinesiology in 2016, and from Canisuis College in 2019 where he earned a M.S. in Physical Education and Coaching in 2019.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Hunter Wrestling this upcoming season. I want to thank the entire athletic department including administration, the coaches, athletic trainers, and our wrestlers for welcoming me with open arms. I am excited to start this upcoming season with this group of wrestlers they have a tremendous amount of potential on the mat and in the classroom" says Coco. "The Hunter wrestling program has a rich history of success on the NYC wrestling scene, and I am ready to begin putting us back to where we need to be as a program."
The Hawks begin their 2021-22 season on on December 4 at the Bob Quade Invitational in Hackettstown, N.J.
