Game 1 (Hunter-13 | York -0)
The Hawks scored 13 runs on 14 hits and were perfect in the field. Five players had multi-hit games and were paced by
Sophia Perez and
Nicole Bowe. Perez went 3-3 with three runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases while Bowe had an equally productive game at the plate with a 3-3 performance to go along with three RBI and two runs scored.
Olivia Palumbo and
Leah Dillon also registered two hits a piece with each of Palumbo's being triples which added up to four RBI. In the circle,
T'ea Panagakos took the win after tossing two innings and striking out three while holding the Cardinals scoreless and hitless.
Alyssa Curiale came in for relief in the final three innings and completed the game, keeping York hitless while fanning six.
After Panagakos struck out the first three batters, the Hawks got to work at the plate and posted an eight-run bottom of the first. They quickly scored two runs and had bases loaded with two outs. Back-to-back singles from
Kayla Pilotti and
Jessica Fowler made it 4-0. Perez took and RBI walk before Palumbo had a bases clearing, three RBI triple to make it 8-0.
The Purple and Gold tacked on two more runs in the second and three in the third to further put the game out of reach. Curiale struck out the side in the top of the fifth inning to close the books on the 13-0 victory.
Game 2 (Hunter-22 | York -0)
Hunter had 24 hits on the day with all but one batter tallying two or more hits. Palumbo,
Paige Witalec and
Leah Dillon each registered four hits while Perez had three. The stat sheet was filled by each player as the team totaled nine doubles, 21 RBI, seven walks, and three stolen bases.
Sarah Schor took care of business in the circle, tossing the full five innings, allowing just four hits, striking out eight and keeping York scoreless. She improves her record to 3-3 on the year.
Similar to the first game, the Purple and Gold had a big first inning that put the game out of reach. Hunter scored nine runs before York was able to record the first out and ended the frame with 12 runs. They added another six runs in the bottom of the second with the first five coming before the first out. Another one run in the third and three in the fourth capped the lopsided 22-0 affair.
Up next, Hunter will host Lehman College on Wednesday, April 27. First pitch of the double header will be at 3pm.
