FLUSHING, N.Y.- The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday afternoon, with
Grace Valette of Hunter College's swim team earning the Rookie of the Week title.
Valette broke two school records and one CUNYAC record at the ECAC Winter Championships this weekend, turning in one of the strongest performances of her career. Valette set new Hunter and conference marks in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.04, placing 21st overall and earning an ECAC B qualifying standard. She added another school record in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:58.27 for 19th place and an ECAC B cut, falling just .07 seconds shy of the conference record. Valette also placed 19th in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:17.32 and took 27th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.32 to round out her standout weekend.
The Hawks return to the pool on Jan. 6 with a tri-meet hosted by USMMA against the Mariners and John Jay College.
