BOX SCORE 2 BRONX, N.Y. — The Hunter College softball team (11-23, 3-3 CUNYAC) dropped both ends of a conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon, falling to top-seeded John Jay College (20-8, 6-0 CUNYAC) by scores of 8-0 and 13-5 at Bahoshy Softball Field.
Game 1 – John Jay 8, Hunter 0 (6 innings)
Hunter was held to five hits in the opener and left seven runners on base in a six-inning shutout. John Jay scored twice in the second, four times in the third, and added two more in the sixth to pull away.
Grace Basil allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits, with four walks and three strikeouts.

Sonia Rosales Rosenthal,
Nicole Bowe,
Isabella Thumhart, and
Jessica Fowler each recorded one hit.
Amanda Rivera entered as a pinch runner in the fourth and stole one base.
The Purple and Gold were held without an extra-base hit and were unable to capitalize after loading the bases in the sixth.
Game 2 – John Jay 13, Hunter 5 (5 innings)
The Hawks answered back in Game 2 with a four-run third and another run in the fifth, to briefly take the lead, but the Bloodhounds took control with six-run frames in both the third and fifth to seal the sweep in five innings.
Witalec led the offense by going 2-for-2 with a two-run home run, a walk, and two runs scored. Thumhart added a 2-for-3 effort with a two-RBI double, while Rosenthal doubled home a run in the fifth. Bowe,

Johany Galva each chipped in with a hit.
Thumhart gave up 13 runs—11 earned—on 18 hits. The Hawks committed two errors and left four runners on base.
Up next, the Hawks travel to Jamaica, N.Y., for a CUNYAC doubleheader at York College on Friday, April 25, with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m.
