EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.- The Hunter College women's indoor track and field team delivered a strong showing Sunday at the DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University, recording nine top-three finishes.
The Hawks were paced by a dominant performance on the track, highlighted by a sweep of the 200m dash.
Orianna Blackman captured first place in 28.80, the top time among City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) runners this season.
Tiara Smith followed in second at 29.21 while
Jimmanie Joseph secured third with a time of 29.93.
Five additional Hawks posted the top conference marks in their respective events. On the track,
Rachelle Griffith grabbed another first place finish for Hunter in the 400m race in 1:04.51.
Shannon Ferri took second in the 800m with her time of 2:35.98, while
Leila Nouri closed out conference-best times with her 6:11.19 finish in the women's mile to place second overall.
In the field events, senior
Taelyn Murray turned in a standout all-around performance, recording the top CUNYAC marks in three events. Murray placed second in the long jump with a mark of 4.89m, and earned third place in the shot put with a throw of 10.58m. The Georgia native also posted the top CUNYAC mark in the triple jump at 10.48m.
Daria Niebrzydowski rounded out conference best finishes, clearing 1.53m in the high jump, as she placed third overall.
The Hawks continue their season at the Garden State Open Invitational at the Armory on Feb. 20.
