NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's indoor track and field team placed second at the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) championship meet Sunday at The Armory.
The meet saw five Hawks earn individual medals, in addition to one relay gold and one relay silver. Senior Shannon Ferri led the way for the Purple and Gold, capturing two first-place finishes and one second-place showing. She won the 3000m in 11:35.41, followed by teammate Emma Kilroy, who placed second in 12:44.44. Ferri added another gold in the women's mile, crossing the line in 5:33.34, ahead of sophomore Mikaelle Cesar (5:41.07). Leila Nouri took third in 6:02.56 to complete a podium sweep for Hunter.
Cesar added a first-place finish in the 800m, clocking 2:30.44, just ahead of Ferri, who secured silver in 2:30.99.
Taelyn Murray contributed points in the 60H, placing third with a time of 10.5. Murray also excelled in the field events, earning three second-place finishes. She recorded a mark of 4.78m in the long jump, 10.5m in the triple jump and 9.72m in the shot put to collect three silver medals.
Daria Niebryzdowski secured Hunter's final individual gold of the meet, winning the high jump with a clearance of 1.5m.
The 4x400m relay team of Cesar, Orionna Blackmon, Rachelle Griffith and Tiara Smith captured gold with a combined time of 4:26.74.
Hunter's distance medley relay team of Maria Gonzalez, Ewa Ozgastasiewicz, Leila Castillo-Diaz and Kilroy added a silver medal, finishing in 14:39.40.
The Hawks totaled 150 points to place second overall, finishing behind Medgar Evers (168 points). The City College of New York placed third with 144 points, followed by Lehman (22) and York (1).
Hunter returns to the track for the final meet of the indoor season on March 6 and 7 at the AARTFC Indoor Championship at the Armory.
