Oliveira’s 19 kills leads Hawks To Win In Opener

New York, NY – Freshman outside hitter Pablo Oliveira (Brazil/Newcomers) recorded 19 kills in his debut to lead the Hawks to a 3-0 (30-25, 30-15, 30-26) victory over the Dolphins of the College of Mount Saint Vincent Thursday evening in Hunter's men's volleyball opener at the Hunter Sportsplex.

In the fisr two games, Hunter hit above .500 and would finish with a .410 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Alex Trost (St. Petersburg, Russia/Edward R. Murrow) contributed to their totals with seven kills and two others finished with six kills each.

Sophomore setter Zacarias Ripoll (Puerto Plata, D.R./John F. Kennedy), the 2007 CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, supported the Hawks with 34 assists and six digs.

The Dolphins were led by junior outside hitter T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) who finished with ten kills and freshman setter Mike Quinn (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) tallied 24 assists.

The Hawks return to action on Tuesday, January 22 when they head to Brooklyn to face Polytechnic for a 7:00 p.m. match.
