New York, NY – Freshman outside hitter
Wojciech Jakubiak (Poland/Grover Cleveland) not only recorded a team high nine kills, but also fired off four straight of his season high eight aces in the third game as Hunter remains unbeaten in the CUNY Athletic Conference with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-16, 30-22) win over the Cardinals of York College in men's volleyball action Thursday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.
Freshman middle blocker
Eryk Kowalski (Poland/Environmental Studies) had a solid outing with nine kills, hitting .800 and three solo blocks. Sophomore setter
Zacarias Ripoll (Puerto Plata, D.R./John F. Kennedy) also added eight kills and 23 assists for the Hawks.
Sophomore middle hitter
Stephen Vassell (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Erasmus) scored a game high 10 kills with a .471 hitting percentage for the Cardinals, while freshman setter
Marcin Kasza (Koblusszi, Poland/Newcomers) contributed with 19 assists and three digs.
The Hawks now improve to 9-3 on the season and 4-0 in the CUNYAC and will now look towards Saturday, when host Sacred Heard University for a 1:00 p.m. match.
