New York, NY – Sophomore
Marcin Polak (Poland/Fort Hamilton) recorded ten kills to help lead Hunter to its fifth straight win and remain unbeaten in the CUNY Athletic Conference with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-14, 30-18) victory over Brooklyn College Thursday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex.
Sophomore setter
Zacarias Ripoll (Puerto Plata, D.R./John F. Kennedy) also had a good match for the Hawks, finished with six kills, nine digs, three aces and 11 assists. Junior middle blocker
Shandu Foster (Long Island City, NY/Acad. of American Studies) also contributed six kills and four digs, while freshman setter
Aaron Colon (Bronx, NY/Lehman) closed out the night with 21 assists and seven digs.
Junior outside hitter
Kwan Tong Ma (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) led the Bridges with 13 kills, while senior setter
Ferdi Ozsoy (Sunnyside, NY/Park West) had 16 assists and six digs.
Hunter improves to 12-3 on the season and will take their 5-0 conference record into Saturday's multi match where they will face-off against rival Baruch College who is currently 8-6 on the year and 5-0 in the conference. The Baruch match will be played at 11:00 a.m. which will then be followed by a match against Lehman at 1:00 p.m. Earlier this season, Hunter defeated Baruch 3-0 (30-23, 30-25, 30-24) in a non-conference match at the Stevens Invitational. This will be the Hawks second meeting with Lehman as well, with whom they defeated 3-0 (30-14, 30-17, 30-24) earlier this month.
