New York, NY – Sophomore setter
Zacarias Ripoll (Puerto Plata, D.R./John F. Kennedy) helped the Hawks to two victories with 13 assists five kills and six digs in a 3-0 (30-8, 30-6, 30-10) win and then eight aces, five kills and six digs in a shortened, one game 3-0 (30-11, 30-0, 30-0) victory over Medgar Evers College in CUNY Athletic Conference men's volleyball action Tuesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.
Tonight's second match was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 9 during a CUNYAC Multi-Match day. As a result, the Hawks entered that match with a 2-0 lead per CUNYAC rules.
In the first match, sophomore opposite
Marcin Polak (Poland/Fort Hamilton) rattled off seven aces and eight kills with a .800 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter
Pablo Oliveira (Brazil/Newcomers) also had a strong game with seven serving aces and seven kills, hitting .600.
Sophomore middle hitter
Ivan Michel (Santo Domingo, DR/Colegio Dominicano DeLaSalle) had two solid matches, first hitting .750 (6K, 0E, 8A) and then hit 5-for-5 with no errors in the shortened second match. Freshman setter
Aaron Colon (Bronx, NY/Lehman) finished the four individual games with 27 assists total.
The Hawks will look to continue their win streak when they host New York City Tech on Thursday for a 6:00 p.m. match at the Hunter Sportsplex. In their first meeting of the season, the Hawks defeated N.Y. City Tech 3-0 (30-22, 30-18, 30-23) led by freshman middle blocker E
