Rhode Island Edges Out Hawks, 25-18

Williamsport, PA – Competing in their third match at the Bud Whitehill Duals, the Hawks had a couple of nice victories, but in the end, it would be Rhode Island who just edge out the Hawks by seven points, 25-18 in both team's first match on Saturday.

125 pounds

Freshman Greg Pollock continued his dominance this weekend with a 7-4 decision over Jared Rhodes to improve to 8-2 on the year.

133 pounds

After dropping his first two matches of the season, freshman Sean Messina recovered with an 11-7 over Scott Legacy. Messina now stands at 8-2 on the year.

141 pounds

Sophomore James Mustakis, who made his debut for the Hawks this week, fell to Travis Drappi in 6:21.

165 pounds

After missing a large chunk of the season with an injury, senior Billy Calvacca return to action this weekend and earned a nice win against Rhode Island, pinning Trevor McKenzie in 40 seconds.

184 pounds

Rhode Island grappler Nick Logan picked up an easy six points for his team with a forfeit as the Hawks have been without an 184 pounder the whole weekend.

197 pounds

Senior Brian Scher continues to be unstoppable on the mat, earning his third victory of the weekend and his 11th overall on the year with a 5-1 decision over Steve Saba.

Heavyweight

Senior Arkadiy Levitin returned to action for the Hawks this weekend, his first since competing at the NCAA Tournament in 2007 and on Saturday he picked up his first victory with a 6-0 decision over Devon Callahan.

Hunter will now close out the weekend with their fourth and final match of the weekend against Norwich University.
