Hoboken, NJ – Junior setter
Zacarias Ripoll (Puerto Plata, D.R./John F. Kennedy) led the Hawks with 15 kills and 25 assists, but after pushing #8 New York University to the limits, the Hawks fell in the deciding fifth set, 15-10 in Hunter's final match of the Stevens Invitational at Walker Gymnasium in Hoboken, NJ.
After the 3-2 (31-29, 27-30, 30-14, 26-30, 15-10) loss, the Hawks fall to 3-5 on the season, while NYU improves to 1-8 on the season.
The Hawks continued their strong offensive play from Friday with freshman outside hitter
Jerin Kallickal (Kerala, India/Swanhakal) finished with 12 kills, sophomore outside hitter
Wojciech Jakubiak (Poreba, Poland/Grover Cleveland) hitting 12 kills and freshman middle blocker
Eric Barty (Jamaica, NY/Cardozo) recording ten kills.
Kallickal also finished with a team high 12 digs.
The Hawks will now prepare for the Nickel City Classic, hosted by D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY. This year's Classic begins on Saturday, January 31 and finishes up on Sunday, February 1. The Hawks are scheduled to face Lancaster Bible, D'Youville, Medaille and Hilbert College.
