New York, NY – After winning five of the first seven weight classes, the Hawks would end up surrendering a 20-18 decision to New York University who won the final three weights, including a pin at heavyweight to complete the come from behind victory on Friday at the Hunter Sportsplex.

JuniorJames Mustakis gave the Hawks their first three points of the match following a 6-1 decision over Steve Contino at 133 pounds. The Hawks would go on to win the next three weight classes with sophomore Sean Messina taking a 5-2 decision over Clement Bommier at 141 pounds, senior Shabazz Bailey winning 149 pounds with a 3-2 decision over Gabriel Gleason and then junior Eduardo Delgadoput six points on the scoreboard with a 5:19 pin on Hamid Castro at 157 pounds to put the Hawks up 15-4.

At 165 pounds, NYU junior Matt Magill grabbed a 2-0 decision over Hunter's Matt Cartusciello to cut the Hawks lead to 15-6. However, the Hawks were able to increase their lead to 18-6 with an 11-4 decision victory for junior Emman Sarwari at 174 pounds.

This is where NYU took control, scoring a 16-6 major decision at 184 pounds, a 4-0 decision at 197 pounds and then at heavyweight, with his team trailing 18-14, freshman Justin Murberg was able to put Hunter's Chris Molfetas to the mat and scored the key six points for the victory 53 seconds into the match.

The Hawks, now 0-3 on the year, will be back home on Tuesday, December 8, when they host Merchant Marine for a 6:00 p.m. dual match.
