New York, NY – After defeating the New York City College of Technology 3-0 (30-18, 31-29, 30-16) in their semifinal match, the Hawks would fall to Baruch College 3-1 (30-21, 30-26, 26-30, 30-25) in the championship match of the CUNYAC Division of the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association [NECVA] Friday night at the ARC on the campus of Baruch College.
Freshman middle blocker
Eric Barty (Jamaica, NY/Cardozo) hit a team high 14 kills along with two assisted blocks and senior middle blocker
Shandu Foster (Long Island City, NY/Academy of American Studies) hit 11 kills and had three assisted blocks to lead the Hawks in their semifinal victory. Junior setter
Zacarias Ripoll (Puerto Plata, D.R./John F. Kennedy) finished with 22 assists and nine kills.
In the finals match, sophomore outside hitter
Wojciech Jakubiak (Poreba, Poland/Grover Cleveland) led the Hawks with 16 kills and also had four aces and eight digs, while both
Barty and
Foster contributed with 12 kills apiece.
Ripoll added 37 assists, six kills and five aces.
The Hawks close out CUNYAC play with a 22-15 record and went 10-2 in the conference. The Hawks will be back in action on Saturday in their season finale when they host the University of New Haven for a 5:00 p.m. match at the Sportsplex.
