Hawks Grapplers Defeat Case Western 34-18

Williamsport, PA – Junior RJ Klotz (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) picked up his sixth victory of the season with a 10-2 major decision on Peter Heggs at 184 pounds to help the Hawks to a 34-18 victory over Case Western Reserve University in their final match at the 2010 Bud Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Hawks got some help with the victory as freshman 125 pounder Ariel Guerrero (Levittown, NY/MacArthur) and sophomore 141 pounder Sean Messina (West Islip, NY/West Islip) each got wins via forfeit. At 133 pounds, junior James Mustakis (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) improved to 6-2 on the year with a 1:27 pin on Tim Sykes which put the Hawks up 12-0.

Senior Vitaly Simkin (Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay) then gave the Hawks a 24-6 lead with a 6:37 pin on Kyle Weaver at 157 pounds. The hawks final points came from newcomer Anthony Daly (Wantagh, NY/MacArthur) who improved to 3-3 on the season with a 1:07 pin on David Yeu at 197 pounds.

Hunter finished up the weekend with a 1-3 record. They will now return action on Wednesday, when they travel out to Hoboken, NJ for a dual match with Stevens Institute of Technology at 7:00 p.m.
