Wilkes-Barre, Pa - On Saturday, November 13, the wrestling team opened up their season at the John Reese Duals, hosted by Wilkes University. The competition featured 10 teams, with Hunter squaring off against Wilkes in round one, Ithaca in round two, Oneonta in round three and Lycoming to close out the day. In all, the Hawks posted an 0-4 record at the Duals.
Opening up the day against host Wilkes, Matt Carusciello and
Eduardo Delgado grabbed the only wins in the 149 and 157 weight classes respectively en route to a 30-10 loss. In the second round,
Anthony Daly wrestled in the 185 weight class and won by decision over Joseph Beach, 3-1.
Trevor Ritchie and
Oliver Astone also won their matches at the 197 and 285 weight classes.
Against Oneonta,
Oliver Lopez (125),
Chris Gogatz (133), Delgado (157) and
Trevor Ritchie (197) picked up wins in the 24-17 loss. In the final round, Lopez,
James Mustakis and Delgado each recorded wins as the Hawks lost 32-12.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, November 17 when they host a tri-match with NYU and TCNJ. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm
