New York, NY – Sophomore outside hitter
Eric Barty (Jamaica, NY/Cardozo) hit a match high .529 with ten kills to lead the Hawks to a 3-0 (30-20, 30-13, 30-10) victory over The City College of New York in a CUNY Athletic Conference men's volleyball match Tuesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.
Junior outside hitter
Christopher Newcomb (Waimea, Kauai, HI/Waimea) finished with nine kills, eight digs and four serving aces, while freshman middle blocker
Braien Otsla (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) had eight kills and two total blocks for the Hawks. Sophomores
Carl Skonberg (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) and
Brendan Feng (Jackson Heights, NY/Hunter) shared setting duties, finishing with 16 and 14 assists respectively.
For the Beavers, freshman middle blocker Nick Siriban tallied five kills and sophomore middle blocker Johnson Ho had three kills and three total blocks. Sophomore setter Jonathan Aguirre recorded ten assists.
Hunter (6-4, 4-0 CUNYAC) is back in action on Thursday when they host York College for a 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. doubleheader of men's volleyball. CCNY (3-6, 1-2 CUNYAC) next heads to Brooklyn, NY for a conference match with N.Y. City Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
