Volleyball Wins Three Straight

New York, NY - The men's volleyball team wrapped up a stellar weekend by sweeping 3 CUNYAC matches without dropping a single set. The Hawks kicked off with a match against Brooklyn College on Thursday, February 17 and made it past the Bulldogs in straight sets. Then, on Saturday, the Hawks hosted the second CUNYAC Multi-match even of the season and took on the Lightning of Lehman and the Cardinals of York. In impressive fashion, they rolled through each game without dropping a single set and began a three game win streak. At the end of the weekend, the Hawks improved their record to 11-9, 7-1 CUNYAC.

In Thursday's game against the Bulldogs, senior Marcin Polak led the Hawks with 12 kills and 9 digs, while freshman Albert Chi had 8 kills. Freshman setter Jonathan Park tallied a game high 28 assists, which aided in a 25-22, 25-21, 25-17 Hunter victory. Alexander Shlivko and Duong Thai led the Bulldogs with 12 and 10 kills respectively.

On Saturday, the Hawks took on the Lehman Lightning in the first CUNYAC multi-match. From the start, Hunter took control and never fell behind as Otsla hammered home 18 kills on 34 attempts with just four errors. Setter Stanley Martinez had 31 assists, while Polak had 6 kills and 9 digs as the Hawks rolled through Lehman in three, 25-23, 25-22, 25-12.  

Capping the day on a high note, Hunter continued the trend against the Cardinals of York College. Otsla posted a game high and led the Hawks with 10 kills and two solo blocks, while Martinez had 26 assists. Eric Barty chipped in with nine kills and three digs, leading the Hawks to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-12 win.

 The Hawks return to action today when they travel to Poughkeepsie, New York to take on Vassar College at 8:00 pm
