Hawks Notch Two Win at First CUNYAC Multi-Match

Box Score - Medgar Evers
Box Score - City Tech

New York, NY - On Saturday, February 5, the men's volleyball team competed in the first of three CUNYAC multi-matches at host Baruch College where they took on the Cougars of Medgar Evers College and the City College of Technology Yellow Jackets. It was a successful day for the Hawks as they easily took down their two conference foes in three sets each and did not allow their counterparts to get any higher than 11 points. With the two wins, Hunter moves to 4-6 overall, 3-0 in conference play which currently ranks them at the top of the conference as one of two unbeaten teams in CUNYAC play.

In the opening match of the day, Hunter came out firing on all cylinders, hitting .619 on 15 kills and 21 attempts to put the Cougars away 25-11 in the first set. It was the same story in the ensuing two sets as Medgar Evers simply could not handle the Hawk attack which was backed by sophomore Braien Otsla who hammered home 15 kills on 17 attempts which was the game high.

The Hawks made quick work of the Yellow Jackets in the second and final match of the day as they held them to just six points in the first set and 11 in each of the next two as they cruised to an easy win. Sophomore John Gemegah was perfect on his kill attemps as he connected on 10 of 10 with zero errors while Otsla was just as impressive, collecting nine kills on 10 attemps without an error.

The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, February 8 when they travel down Lexington Avenue to take on rivals Baruch College in a conference matchup scheduled for 7:00 pm.
