New York, NY - On Saturday, February 5 the Hunter College Hawks took on the 22 ranked Elizabethtown College in the Hunter Sportsplex. In what was supposed to be a tri-match, the weather forbade York College of Pennsylvania from competing. The Hawks struggled as they fell 9-37 to the Blue Jays.
Sophomore Chris Gogatz earned Hunters first three points with a 10-7 decision over Mary Harnish at the 133 pound weight class. His performance was followed up by junior Sean Messina, who had an 11-2 major decision over the Blue Jay's Jordan Stepanchick at the 141 pound weight class. This would be the Hawks only two wins as the Blue Jays swept the rest of the matches.
With the loss, the men fall to 1-15 while the Blue Jays advance to 9-2. The Hawks are back in action on February 12, where they compete in the Tri-Match at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
