Brooklyn, NY - On Tuesday night, the men's volleball team took on the Cougars of Medgar Evers College in their final match before the conference playoffs begin. The Hawks, behind
Braien Otsla's 15 kills, put the Cougars away in straight sets, 25-8, 25-6, 25-13. With the win, Hunter gets back over .500 as their record stands at 16-15, 12-2 CUNYAC while Medgar Evers falls to 3-19, 0-14 CUNYAC.
Otsla slammed home 15 kills on 17 attempts to post a .882 hitting percentage to go along with his seven service aces.
John Gemegah connected on seven of 10 attempts while
Marcin Polak had five kills and
Stanley Martinez had a game high of 30 assists.
As a team, the Hawks averaged above a .500 hitting percentage and committed just seven errors throughout the contest.
With the win, the Hawks clinch the #2 seed in the CUNYAC Tournament and will host #7 Medgar Evers on Tuesday, March 22 at 6:00 pm in the quarterfinal round.
