Volleyball Wins Two at Multi-Match

New York, NY – On Saturday, March 5, the men's volleyball team competed in the third and final installment of the CUNYAC Multi-Match series which was hosted by CCNY. In the event, the Hawks took on host CCNY in the first match and then the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College in the second and swept each match in three sets. With the two wins, the Hawks advance to 14-11, 10-2 CUNYAC.

In the first match of the day, John Gemegah and Braien Otsla combine for 24 of Hunter's 43 kills while setter Stanley Martinez racked up a gahme high 36 assists. Matthew Ng led CCNY with 10 kills while Brandon Mellete had seven. The Hawks had 16 team kills in each of their final two sets and made just 15 errors in the match as they rolled past the Beavers 25-19, 25-19, 25-22.

In the second match, the Hawks made quick work of the opposing Bulldogs. Gemegah had a game high nine kills while Otsla had eight and Jonathan Park and Albert Chi chipped in with five apiece. Martinez had another game high as he recorded 21 assists in the win. For Brooklyn, Alexander Shlivko led his team with seven kills while Duong Thai had six of his own. On just five total errors, the Hawks made quick work of their conference opponent as they cruised to a 25-11, 25-12, 25-13 victory.

The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, March 8 when they travel to Jamaica, New York to take on the Cardinals of York College in a conference matchup beginning at 7:00 pm.
