EWING, NJ - The Hunter College men's basketball team couldn't find its groove and struggled to overcome an early deficit as it suffered a 79-60 against The College of New Jersey on the road Friday evening.
The Lions improve to 8-10 with tonight's victory while Hunter falls to 8-9.
The Hawks were led by senior
Anthony Uter who finished with 16 points. Senior
Panagiotis Koutsoloukas and junior
Terry Carpenter each tallied nine points. Koutsoloukas also had seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
The Lions jumped out to an early lead, going on a 9-0 run to open the contest but the Hawks weren't down for long. Hunter climbed back into the game as Uter hit a short jumper to cut the lead to 15-12 with 12:01 to play. TCNJ hit a positive streak midway through the first half, coming from behind to take a 15 point lead. The Hawks would close the gap before the intermission with the Lions ahead, 38-28. TCNJ pulled away in the second half as 11 different players combined for a highly offensive stanza. The Lions took tonight's contest, 79-60.
The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, January 25 when they host York College at 7pm.
