NEW YORK, NY - The Hunter College men's basketball team saw its nine-point second half lead erased as the Baruch Bearcats came back to top the Hawks, 55-50 in the ARC Arena on Saturday evening.
Hunter falls to 11-13 overall and 6-6 within CUNYAC play while Baruch improves to 13-12 and 7-5 in the league. The Hawks led throughout until the final five minutes of the game when a layup gave the home team a one-point advantage (44-43) with 5:22 left to go in the stanza. After
Anthony Uter hit a a free throw to even things up at 44-all with 4:31 remaining, Baruch would push ahead on an 11-6 jaunt to run away with the 55-50 victory this evening.
Jeffrey Daza finished the game with 13 points to lead Hunter offensively while Uter registered a double-double, netting 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Hunter was plagued by 17 turnovers and had a tough time connecting on attempts from the field as downtown rival Baruch limited the team to just 27% shooting from the field and 23% shooting from three-point range.
The Hawks held a slim one-point advantage in the first (18-17) as Baruch erased an early seven-point advantage to make it a much closer affair in the second.
Hunter closes out the regular season on the road at Ramapo College on Tuesday, February 14th at 7pm.
