Hawks Soar Over Cardinals and Lightning at CUNYAC Multi-Match

BRONX, NY - The Hunter College men's volleyball team continued its dominant play in the CUNY Athletic Conference as it topped both Lehman and York in straight sets to improve to 11-0 in the league on Saturday afternoon.

Hunter--which improves to 14-7 and 11-0 in the CUNYAC and sits in first place, did not lose a set on the day as it began with a 3-0 win (25-20, 25-14, 25-20) against Lehman (13-7, 7-4 CUNYAC). Jerrin Kallickal was unstoppable for the Hawks, tallying 14 kills on .571 attacking. Eric Barty added 10 kills while Stanley Martinez chipped in with three service aces and 25 assists.

The Hawks tallied 43 kills, adding six service aces and one team block in the win.

Hunter earned another 3-0 win (25-20, 25-14, 25-19), handing the York Cardinals (15-11, 7-2 CUNYAC) just their second conference loss on the year.

The win was a true team effort as seven out of eight starters finished with two kills or more, led by Barty who finished with eight. Kallickal, John Gemegah and Braien Otsla each finished with seven kills apiece while Barty and Otsla each notched a pair of service aces. 

The team finished the match with 41 kills on .371 attacking while earning four service aces and five team blocks.

Hunter returns to action this Tuesday, March 20 at 6pm when it hosts Lehman College.
