NEW YORK, NY - The #12 Hunter College men's volleyball team managed an impressive feat, knocking off rival #14 Baruch College, 3-1 (25-17, 12-25, 25-21, 25-14) on the road in the ARC on Thursday evening to complete the season sweep of the Bearcats.
Hunter improves to 16-7 overall and a perfect 13-0 in the CUNYAC. Baruch drops to 14-8 overall and 9-2 in the league.
The Hawks managed an impressive 48 kills on .302 hitting to take the match in four sets. The Hawks had four players finish the night with four kills or more including
Christopher Newcomb who led Hunter with 13 kills on .417 attacking.
Eric Barty finished the night with 10 kills on .375 attacking while
Braien Otsla and
John Gemegah each finished with nine apiece.
Baruch which finished with 47 kills on .221 attacking was led by Jack McKee who finished with a match-high 18 kills.
Hunter closes out the regular season at the Endicott Tournament this Saturday and Sunday. The Hawks are slated to play Rivier College and Hilbert College on Saturday, March 24th then SUNY New Paltz and Southern Vermont College on Sunday, March 25.
The Hawks will host the 2012 CUNYAC/Con Edison Men's Volleyball tournament in two weeks. The quarterfinals are slated for Tuesday, April 10th while the semis and finals will all be played on Thursday, April 12th.
