New York, N.Y. – This past weekend, the Hawks hosted the Metro–New England duals in the Hunter Sportsplex. Four teams were in attendance: the host, Hunter College, #19 The College of New Jersey, Roger Williams University, and Williams College.
Hunter competed first against the Ephs Williams College. The Hawks started out strong with a pin by #7
Jaydon Rice (125lbs) and a victory by
Kenneth Albert (133lbs).
Brady Kwong (149lbs) also won his match, as did
Luke Pragdat (174lbs). Going into the 197-pound match, Hunter was ahead 18-15 but dropped two losses at the end. As a result, the Hawks fell in the dual after winning 4 of 10 matches.
Hunter then competed against the Lions of The College of New Jersey. The Hawks had a strong start again with three straight victories:
Jaydon Rice (125lbs) won by a major decision 10-2,
Kenneth Albert (133lbs) won by a decision 6-1, and Christian Gogatz (141lbs) won by a decision 3-1.
Jesse Bader (157lbs) also won in an overtime decision 7-6 and Heavyweight Patryck Kopcyznsky won 10-5. The Hawks ultimately fell 18-16, after winning five out of the ten matches.
The Hawks finished the day with a 27-13 decision over Roger Williams. Rice pinned his opponent at 4:07, while Albert had a 5-2 decision over his. Pragdat pinned his opponent at 5:37, and
Jesse Bader had a 5-2 decision at 157.

Kenneth Albert both went undefeated on the day.
Jaydon Rice won two of his matches by pin while senior
Chris Gogatz (141lbs), senior
Brady Kwong (149lbs), sophomore
Jesse Bader (157lbs), and freshman Patryck Kopcyznsky (Hwt) all went 2-1 on the day.
The Hawks will compete next against Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA., on February 9.
