Late Surge Lifts Bearcats Over Hawks

New York, N.Y - The Hunter Hawks men's basketball team lost a nail-bitter 65-62 to CUNYAC rival Baruch College on Wednesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

The Hawks (7-10, 3-6 CUNYAC) were led by Frankie Drayton, who returned to the lineup after missing the last three games to score a game-high 21 points. Brian Kruger scored 14 points for the Hawks.

After being down by 13 at halftime, the Hawks opened the 2nd half on a 19-1 run to take a 42-37 lead with 13:10 remaining. From that point forward, neither team had a lead larger than six points until the final seconds of the game. The Bearcats seized control of the game after a layup by Edward Roscigno to take a 56-50 lead.

The Bearcats were led by Granville Gittens who scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Matas Rascius chipped in with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Hawks return to action Friday night at 7pm when CUNYAC rival Lehman College travel to Manhattan to take on the Hawk
