Men's Volleyball Splits at NJCU Tri-Match

Jersey City, NJ – The Hunter Hawks men's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Sunday at the NJCU Tri-Match. The Hawks lost 3-0 to NYU and defeated host, NJCU 3-1.

Against NYU the Hawks were defeated 14-25, 20-25 and 19-25. Stanley Martinez had six kills and one block, while hitting .417. He also dished out 13 assists. Steven Tarquinio also had six kills for the Hawks. The loss to the Violets snapped the Hawks seven match winning streak.

In the 2nd match against NJCU the Hawks posted scores of 23-25, 25-21, 27-25 and 25-18 to improve their record to 11-9.

Alexandru Barbulescu smashed 13 kills for the Hawks while hitting .476, he also had three blocks. Tarquinio continued his strong play with 10 kills with three blocks while hitting .444. Matthew Ng had nine kills.

Martinez had another strong performance with 37 assists and Colin Horn had a team-high 12 digs.

The Hawks return to action Wednesday when they play host to #4 SUNY New Paltz, game-time is 7pm.
