BOX SCORE 2 New York, NY – The Hunter Hawks men's volleyball team swept York College in a double-header matchup on Tuesday night at the Hunter College Sportsplex. The two victories improve the Hawks to 14-11 overall and 12-2 in CUNYAC play, securing the #2 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC playoffs.
In the first match, the Hawks posted scores of 27-25, 20-25, 25-21, 26-24 for the 3-1 victory.
Matthew Ng smacked down a season-high 18 kills to lead the Hawks.
Alexandru Barbulescu smashed 10 kills with a .438 hitting percentage and
Ben Crusinberry had 10 kills as well with a .391 hitting percentage.
Stanley Martinez set up his teammates masterfully with 48 assists and
Eric Lodde fought hard for 12 digs.
The Cardinals were led by Edner Geffard's 12 kills. Bryan Williams and Leszek Stankiewicz each had 10 kills.
In the second match, the Hawks swept the Cardinals with the scores of 28-26, 25-19, 25-21.
Barbelescu led the Hawks this time with 12 kills while hitting .400, he also had three solo blocks. Martinez was brilliant once again with 28 assists, he also had four solo blocks.
Steven Tarquinio chipped in with five kills and four blocks.
The Hawks wrap up their 2014 regular season this weekend when they travel to Cambridge, MA to participate in the MIT Scramble Tournament.
