BOX SCORE UNION, NJ - The Hunter men's volleyball team opened up their 2015 season on Friday night. The Hawks lost 3-0 to Johnson & Wales University, 25-18, 25-22, and 25-14.
Ben Crusinberry had 10 kills for the Hawks to go along with two service aces.
Brandon Kohler had five kills.
Nicolas Sanchez dished out 12 assists and
Mehmet Ozturk and
Colin Horn each had seven digs.
The Hawks battled in the first set and even took an 11-10 lead but the Wildcats scored nine of the next 11 points to take a 19-13 lead. The Hawks would continue to battle but ultimately drop the set 25-18.
The Hawks took control of the second set early taking a 16-13 lead after a
Benjamin Cassidy kill. Both teams would battle back and forth but back-to-back Wildcat kills won the set 25-22
In the third set once again started out close, with both teams trading points early on. The Hawks trailed 15-14 but they wouldn't score again as the Wildcats closed out the set and the match on a 10-0.
The Hawks return to action Saturday when they will take on Brooklyn College at 11am and Elmira College at 3pm.
