Wilkes-Barre, PA. - Hunter College wrestling opened the 2015-16 season at the NY/PA Challenge this past weekend, falling in all three matches against Elizabethtown College, King's College (Pa.) and University of Scranton.
The Hawks fell to Elizabethtown in the first match of the day with a score of 53-0 as Hunter struggled to find a win.
In the match against King's College,
Nick Brutus was able to pull out the lone victory for the Hawks at the 174 lb. weight class. Brutus defeated Kings' Nick Price with a score of 4-1 as the Hawks fell 45-3.
Brutus followed that performance up with another win, defeating Scranton's Daniel D'Agostini with a pin. Hunter's Jayden Rice got a win in the 133 lb. weight class by beating Nick DePierro with a score of 6-4. Despite the victories, Scranton came up with the team win, 40-6.
The Hawks will return to action at the NY State Tournament in Ithica, NY on Sunday, Nov. 22.
