BOX SCORE NEW PALTZ, NY - The Hunter men's volleyball team saw their two game winning steak come to an end on Thursday night in a straight set loss to #3 SUNY New Paltz. The Hawks fall to 17-11 on the season.
In the first set the Hawks kept it close with New Paltz pulling to within in one point at 6-5 early in the first set thanks to a kill by
Benjamin Cassidy, and a New Paltz attack error. New Paltz would take control of the set taking their 6-5 lead and turning it into, an, 18-7 lead. The Hawks would rattle off two points on a New Paltz service error and a kill by
Ben Crusinberry. With the score 23-10, the Hawks would not go away and score six of the next seven points to pull within 24-16 but New Paltz would close out the set on the next point winning 25-16.
The Hawks battled in the second and third sets but the #3 New Paltz attack would be to tough for the Hawks to handle. New Paltz would smash 12 kills in the second set while hitting .529% and smash 13 kills and hit .750% in the third set.
The Hunter attack was led by Crusinberry who led the team with eight kills and a .538 hitting percentage.
The Hawks return to action Saturday afternoon as they will participate in a CUNYAC multi-match against York College and CCNY starting at 3pm.
