Men's Volleyball Tabbed as #3 Seed in ECAC Tournament

The Hawks will face Stevenson in the semi-final round.

New York, NY – The men's volleyball team has been tabbed as the #3 seed in the ECAC Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament as announced by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The four-team field will compete in a one day tournament on Saturday, April 18 at host institution, Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Wentworth Institute of Technology (22-8) was selected as the top seed while Stevenson (17-13) checks in at #2. Hunter (21-13) grabs the third seed while Southern Vermont College (16-10) rounds out the tournament in the #4 slot.

The Hawks are coming off of a runner-up finish at the CUNYAC Championship Tournament and their first 20-win season since 2012. In the previous seven seasons, Hunter made the ECAC Tournament a total of five times and won it three times (each season from '08 through '10) while sporting a 7-2 record and holding a 20-12 set advantage against opponents.

Head Coach Ray Bello and his squad are no stranger to Stevenson. In the ECAC Tournament, they met three times with the Mustangs holding a 2-1 upper hand. In 2014, the Hawks made an early exit against them in the semifinals, 3-1 and followed the same fate back in 2011. However, the Purple and Gold had their number in 2009 when they beat the Mustangs in straight sets for the title. This year, Stevenson got the best of Hunter after winning 3-1 back on March 14 at the Sportsplex.

Hunter will have the first semi-final when they take on Stevenson at 11am while Wentworth squares off against Southern Vermont at 1pm. The winner of the two semi-finals will meet in the championship game at 3pm.
