Hackettstown, NJ – The wrestling team headed to Hackettstown, NJ for a dual match against Centenary College. The Hawks were only able to come away with two wins out of the 10 weight classes as they drop to 1-12 on the year after a 36-9 loss.
In the 133 pound weight class, veteran
Jaydon Rice earned one of two wins for the Hawks. The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania native earned a win by fall over Christian Sable in 4:04. Teammate,
Dennis Melendez secured the Purple and Gold's only other victory in the 197 pound weight class. The senior won by an 8-1 decision over Centenary's Etiini Udott.
David Naupari lost by a major decision at 141,
William Heine lost by a tech fall at 157,
Nick Brutus was defeated by Josh Sibblies at 174 by a fall and
Maksimilian Garkusha lost by decision at 184.
Next up, the Hawks travel to Bristol, Rhode Island to compete in the Metro/New England Duals on Saturday, January 30 at 1pm.
