Hoboken, NJ - Hunter College wrestling went 1-2 at the Stevens Institute of Technology Quad Match on Sunday, falling to Stevens and the College of New Jersey, while defeating Trinity College.
The Hawks started the day with a 46-3 loss to Stevens.
Dennis Melendez was the only Hunter wrestler to get a win in the match as he defeated A.J. Kowal with a 3-1 decision.
Melendez followed that performance up with another win on the day, earning Hunter's only victory in the 49-4 loss to College of New Jersey.
The Hawks were able to end the quad match with a win, defeating Trinity College with a score of 29-18.
Jaydon Rice started the Hawks off with a 8-5 decision, while
David Naupari followed with a 12-6 win of his own.
The Hawks rounded out the match with wins from
Declan Gray,
Nick Brutus,
Maksimilian Garkusha and
Dennis Melendez to give Hunter its lone victory on the day.
The Hawks will return to action on Jan. 9 when they compete in the North-South Dual in Collegeville, Pa.
