New York, NY - Hunter College wrestling competed in the NY / PA Duals this past Saturday, going 1-3 by picking up a win against Penn Tech College, while falling to Wilkes University, Keystone College and King's College.
"The day wasn't how we wanted it to go," said assistant coach Marcantoni Macias. "But we learned a lot about a young team filled with four freshmen, two transfers and three returners in the starting line up. We asked the guys to compete and fight for every position and they did just that. Wilkes is a very established program and showed us our weakness, which is what we want to see at the start of the season."Â
"We know where to go from here and how to get better for the coming weeks leading up to  the Regional and National tournaments. The teams we wrestled are all doing the same thing as us but with more intensity and a great sense of urgency to score points so we plan to emphasize that more in the room."
Wilkes 42, Hunter 6
In the 42-6 loss to Wilkes, freshman
John Sherlock picked up his first collegiate victory to give Hunter their only win in the match.
