BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College men's volleyball got a win over York College on Thursday, beating the Cardinals in three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-9.
The Hawks are now 11-3 overall and undefeated in the conference with a 6-0 record.
Ben Crusinberry led the team with eight kills, while
Blake Hogan and
Steven Tarquinio followed with seven kills each.
Nicolas Sanchez recorded 28 assists in the match as the Hawks totaled 44 kills in the win, holding the Cardinals to just 10.Â
The beginning of the first set was close until the Hawks would go on a 4-1 run to lead 15-10. From there the Hawks would hit their stride, scoring 10 of the next 11 points for a dominating 25-12 win and lead the match, 1-0.Â
Hunter began the second set in dominating fashion, jumping out to a 15-5 lead with kills from five different players. The Cardinals were able to get a few points on the board due to Hunter service errors but the Hawks closed out the set with a kill from
Austen Rerick for a 25-11 second set victory.
York struck first in the third set, keeping the score close until Hunter would monopolize on a Cardinal service error to score seven-straight points for a 15-5 lead. The Hawks continued to overpower York, scoring 10 of the last 12 points of the set to win 25-9 and beat the Cardinals, 3-0.
The team will return to action in the Juniata Invitational, starting today in Huntingdon, PA.
