BOX SCORE 2 New York, NY - Hunter College men's volleyball went 1-1 at the Hunter Tri-Match on Saturday, defeating Baruch College in four sets before falling to Marymount University in four at the Sportsplex.
The Hawks dropped their first match of the season to be 4-1 overall so far this year.
Hunter 3, Baruch 1
The Purple and Gold took the first set with a score of 25-17, dropped the second 25-21 and then defeated the Bearcats in three and four with scores of 25-21 and 26-24.
Steven Tarquinio led the Hawks with 14 kills and just three errors for a team-high hitting percentage of .379.
Brandon Kohler followed with 11 kills, whileÂ
Benjamin Cassidy and
Michael Jazgarski added 11 each in the win.
Nicolas Sanchez recorded 44 assists and
Joseph Muir paced the Hawks on defense with 27 digs. Cassidy followed with 17 and Sanchez contributed 14.
Marymount 3, Hunter 1
Hunter started strong in the match, taking the first set 25-23. They fell in the next three with scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-20.
Ben Crusinberry led the Hawks with 13 kills, while Jazgarski and Tarquinio tallied 11 and 10, respectively. Sanchez recorded 31 assists while leading the team on defense with 12 digs.
The squad returns to action on Jan. 28 when they travel to a tournament hosted by Kean University.
