New York, NY – The Hunter wrestling team cruised to a 40-12 win over Keystone College earlier this afternoon in front of the home crowd to kick off the Hawk's annual Homecoming. With the help of four Keystone forfeits, the Purple and Gold came away with wins in all but two weight classes.
Hamed Amir (125 lbs),
William Heine (165 lbs),
Nick Brutus (174 lbs) and
Anthony Fitzsimmons (184 lbs) each were credited with victories by forfeit. At 133 pounds,
Elliot Natanov was pinned by Paul Miller at the 1:55 mark in the first period. However, the Hawks bounced back when junior
John Sherlock handily defeated his opponent in the 141-pound weight class by an 11-1 major decision.
Ronaldo Rodriguez followed up his teammate's win with a victory of his own. Pitted against the Giant's TJ Casewell, Rodriguez came out on top after a 7-5 decision at the 149-pound weight class. The Hawk's 157 pound
Sean Miller did his part with a 6-4 decision over his opponent, Thomas Michaels.
Declan Gray snagged the final win for the Hawks at 197 with a pin at 1:55 in the second period while teammate
Justin Rodriguez was pinned at 1:31 in the 285-weight class.
The Hawks return back to the mat on Sunday, December 3
rd when they head to Hackettstown, New Jersey to compete in the Bob Quade Open hosted by Centenary College.
