BOX SCORE New Paltz, NY - Hunter College men's volleyball fell to #2 ranked New Paltz on Saturday afternoon in three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-20.
The #10 ranked Hawks are now 21-5 overall while remaining undefeated in CUNYAC play.
Hunter started out the match by falling behind early on. Trailing 21-12 the Hawks went on a 5-1 run, featuring kills from
Benjamin Cassidy and
Ben Crusinberry to make the score 22-17. The run came up short as New Paltz scored the remaining points to get the first set win.
The second set was much closer as Hunter fell behind by just one point at the end of the set. With the score 22-21, the Purple and Gold allowed three-straight kills as New Paltz got the second set victory, 25-21.
Hunter stayed close to New Paltz in the third, trailing by just three with the score 20-17. New Paltz closed it out for the last time, ending on a 5-3 run to win 25-20 and take the match.
Crusinberry led the way for Hunter with nine kills and no errors for a .420 hitting percentage, while Cassidy followed with seven.
Nicolas Sanchez tallied 27 assists in the loss, while
Joseph Muir recorded a team-high seven digs.
The squad returns to action on Tuesday when they host Baruch College at 6 p.m.
