BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College men's volleyball got a win in a match up between two undefeated teams in the conference, defeating Baruch College in three sets at the Hunter Sportsplex on Tuesday night.
The #12 ranked Hawks improve to 22-5 and 7-0 in CUNYAC play.
The Purple and Gold started the first set by jumping out to a 12-5 lead, featuring kills from five different players. The Bearcats went on a run to come within four points, but then committed two attack errors to give Hunter the 25-19 victory.
The second set started close until two-straight kills from
Michael Jazgarski sparked an 8-1 run for the Hawks, giving them a 10-4 lead as  Jazgarski and
Brandon Kohler combined for five kills.
From there
Ben Crusinberry and
Benjamin Cassidy took control of the match, recording kills for the next six points for Hunter to give the Hawks a comfortable edge over Baruch. The Purple and Gold finished off the second with five-staight points to get a 25-14 win and lead the match 2-0.
Baruch came out in the third with vengeance, immediately leading Hunter 8-3 for their largest lead of the match. Kohler responded with two-straight kills and then Crusinberry took over, tallying seven kills in the second half of the set to lead Hunter to a 25-19 third set win.
Crusinberry led the team with 15 kills, while Kohler followed with eight. Cassidy tallied seven kills in the win with just one error to lead the Hawks in hitting percentage with a mark of .545. The junior also led the team on defense with 11 digs, while
Joseph Muir recorded nine.Â
Nicolas Sanchez paced the team with 42 assists. Kohler and
Steven Tarquinio each notched a team-leading four blocks in the victory.
The squad returns to action on Thursday, March 30 when they host New York University at 7 p.m.
