Men's Volleyball To Take On #1 Springfield In The Second Round Of the NCAA Championships

Hawks vs. Pride - Friday at 12:30PM

Springfield, MA - Hunter College men's volleyball is set to take on the #1 seed Springfield College on Friday in the Elite Eight round of the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championships, hosted by Springfield.

The #8 seeded Hawks arrived in Springfield on Wednesday and attended the annual NCAA banquet on Thursday night, where they were treated to dinner, pictures and awards, while listening to influential speakers.

Steven Tarquinio, Joseph Muir and Benjamin Cassidy represented the squad at the podium, speaking to the crowd about the journey the team has taken over the past year to get to where they are today, while also cracking a few jokes.

The night ended with the acknowledgment of the 2017 All Americans where Tarquinio was honored for being selected as a First Team All American.

Tomorrow the team will face Springfield for the second time this season after losing to the Pride on March 4th. The loss came just one hour after the Hawks defeated #7 ranked Wentworth in a competitive five sets.

The Purple and Gold will look to shut down Ricardo Padilla Ayala, who recorded a team-high 12 kills in their last match up, as well as Luis Vega, who is the Pride's leader in kills.

The winner of the tomorrow's 12:30 match will move on to the Final Four.
