Men's Volleyball's Historic Season Ends With Loss to #1 Springfield in NCAA Quarterfinals

Hunter's 2017 Campaign Finishes in Elite Eight

BOX SCORE Springfield, MA - Hunter College men's volleyball finished off one of the best seasons in program history on Friday with a loss to the #1 seeded Springfield College Pride in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Division III Championships.

The Hawks end the year with a 28-7 overall record, a CUNYAC Championship and #8 national ranking. Steven Tarquinio became the school's first All American since the 2012 season and Joseph Muir was named CUNYAC Player of the Year.

The Purple and Gold fell to the Pride in three sets with scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-16, recording 20 kills as Springfield hit .473 on the match.

Tarquinio led the way with five kills, followed by Benjamin Cassidy and Ben Crusinberry's four kills each. Nicolas Sanchez tallied 19 assists, while Crusinberry paced the defense with a team-high eight digs.

The Hawks graduate four seniors in Tarquinio, Sanchez, Crusinberry and Brandon Kohler.
