BOX SCORE 2 Poughkeepsie, NY - Hunter College men's volleyball finished the regular season by going 1-1 at the Vassar Tri-Match, falling to #2 ranked Vassar College in three sets before sweeping Alvernia University.
The #10 ranked Hawks end the regular season with 25-6 overall record for the most regular season wins since the 2012 season.
The Purple and Gold started the day with a three-set loss to Vassar, featuring scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-22.
Steven Tarquinio led the Hawks with 11 kills and just one error for a .476 hitting percentage.
Brandon Kohler followed with eight kills and a .412 hitting percentage, while
Ben Crusinberry added seven.
Nicolas Sanchez tallied 27 assists in the loss as
Joseph Muir led the team with 13 digs. Sanchez and Crusinberry each added ten on defense.
The Hawks turned the day around with a win over Alvernia, taking the match in three sets with scores of 26-24, 25-17 and 25-14. The team hit .283 on match as
Matthew Zukowski, Tarquinio, Crusinberry and Kohler each notched seven kills. Sanchez added 34 assists and Muir continued to pace the Hawks on defense with 15 digs.
The squad returns to action on Thursday, April 13 when they host the 2017 CUNYAC Championships. The #1 seeded Hawks will play in the semifinals at 6 p.m. before advancing to the finals at 8 p.m. at the Hunter Sportsplex.
