Men's Volleyball Captures Third-Straight CUNYAC Championship

Hawks Defeat Baruch in the Finals

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's volleyball captured the 2018 CUNYAC Championship on Friday night, defeating Lehman College in the semifinals in three sets before taking down Baruch College in a sweep.

The Hawks finished off Lehman with scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 26-24 to advance to the finals later in the night.

When the Hawks faced #2 seed Baruch, they won the match to take their third-straight CUNYAC title. The match featured scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-22. 

The Purple and Gold posted a hitting percentage of .267, while holding the Bearcats to a mark of .119. Qendrim Shala recorded a team-high 13 kills, followed by Matt Zukowski and Blake Hogan's 10 each. Joe Muir paced the defense with 12 digs, while freshman setter Alec Helford registered 40 assists. 

Matt Zukowski and Alec Helford earned spots on the All-Tournament Team, while Blake Hogan was named Tournament Most Valuable Player.

The Hawks will find out who they will face in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Monday morning.
