Williamsport, PA - Hunter College wrestling went 3-1 on Saturday at the Mid-Winter Classic, defeating Kings College, Penn College and New England College at the Liberty Arena.
The Hawks started the tournament by getting their only loss of the day against Rhode Island College with a tight score of 24-26.
Jahongir Davronov,
Sean Miller,
Antonio LaRocca and
Gevorg Arakelov all earned wins in the match.
The Purple and Gold bounced back in the match against Penn, defeating them 29-27. Hunter took the first five bouts as
Andrew Cota got a win at 141 and Miller and LaRocca got their second victories of the day.
The team then got a commanding 41-13 win over King's College with Cota, Miller and LaRocca continuing to lead the way for the Hawks.
Hunter finished off the day by taking down New England with a score of 30-23. Cota defeated his opponent by 8-4 decision, before
Jonibek Davronov earned a 14-7 decision for the Hawks. LaRocca and Arakelov each got a win by fall at 165 and 174, respectively, to give the Hawks the victory.
The team returns to action on January 19 when they travel to New York University for a 10 a.m. match.
