Men's Indoor Track Hunter Athletics

Men's Track and Field Take Second at CUNYAC Champs

The Hawks scored at least one point in every event.

New York, NY – The men's indoor track and field team took home runner up honors at the CUNYAC Track and Field Championship earlier today which was hosted by the Armory Track and Field Center. The Hawks made their presence felt in all the events by scoring at least one point in each event contested.
 
Christopher Spurrell was Hunter's top finisher in the 60m dash, placing fifth with a time of 7.44 and was also fourth in the 60 H with a mark of 10.86. Meanwhile, the duo of Obinna Onaga held it down for the sprinters. Onaga was sixth in the 60m in 7.65, fifth in the 200 in 23.92 and fifth in the 400 in 53.28. Adam Tulibacki placed second in both the 200m and 400m with times of 23.34 and 51.48 respectively.
 
Alexander Marquez and Griffin Kearney went 3-4 in the 800 with respective efforts of 2:06.98 and 2:07.59 to add a total of 10 points toward the team scoring. Marquez was also third in the mile in 4:47.85 while teammate Kyle Harris was close behind in 4:50.72 for fifth. Jeffry Guerrero and Daniel Iskhakov fared well in the 5k; Guerrero was fourth in 17:55 while Iskhakov was sixth in 18:57.
 
Hunter's quartet of Spurrell, Kearney, Onaga and Tulibacki combined for a runner up finish in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:34.48 while Felix Wong, Nathan Geary, Kearny and Robert Novo made up the first place finishing DMR relay who posted a time of 11:18.44.
 
In the field events, Donavin Floyd-Fulmore and Isaac Mari-Jata tied for second place in the high jump, each hitting the same heights of 1.83m. Mari-Jata and Matthew Lau went 3-4 in the long jump with respective leaps of 6.15m and 5.81m. The same duo also fared well in the triple jump. Mari-Jata was the first place finisher with a mark of 14.19m while Lau was sixth with 12.01m.
 
In the throws, Hardik Bhaskar was the shot put runner up with a throw of 10.48m with Jean Ady in fourth with a throw of 9.01m. Bhaskar was also Hunter's top performer in the weight throw, taking third with a heave of 10.61 while teammate Elias Garcia was sixth with a mark of 7.85m.
 
The Hawks finished second as a team with 135.5 points. CCNY won the overall team title.
